The people’s Party (PP) has announced that it is considering forming alliance with  Freedom Party (FP), the People’s Development Party (PDP), and the Malawi Forum for Unity and Development (MAFUNDE) towards the  elections set for September this year.

PP’s Secretary General, Ben Chakhame, said this during an event where they were unveiling Shirah Goodwell, a 23-year-old parliamentary  candidate for Lilongwe Mude constituency.  He said the alliance will help them have candidates across the country.

Chakhame urged PP supporters to promote peaceful politics and avoid violence. He also also added that party’s leader Joyce Banda is committed to work for the country and solve challenges that the country is facing just as she did in her presidency in 2012.

In her remarks Shirah Goodwell, said she is planning to focus on girl’s education, youth employment and infrastructure development if elected in September.
