The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has formally charged Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the North, Jappie Mhango, with two counts: misuse of public office and providing false information to the Bureau.
However, Mhango did not take a plea today. ACB’s Principal Legal and Prosecutions Officer, Daniel Nyasulu, informed the court that Mhango’s plea will be taken once two additional suspects connected to the case are apprehended.
The court, presided over by Chief Resident Magistrate Godfrey Balaka, is currently in a 10-minute recess. In the meantime, Mhango’s legal team has filed a bail application.
Further developments are expected as the case unfolds.
