Chiradzulu First Grade Magistrate court has convicted Douglas Mkweza, a Councillor for Masanjala Ward, for stealing a grader worth K500 million.

The court heard that on February 15, 2023, Douglas offered for sale a grader belonging to the Malawi Government, to a Tanzanian national.

Upon getting suspicious, well-wishers tipped the Police who failed to arrest Mkweza because he had already escaped but days later, Mkweza surrendered himself to Chiradzulu Police.

Meanwhile, First Grade Magistrate Smart Maruwasa, has set June 12, 2025 for sentencing.
