Man Killed After Being Accused of Stealing Soya Pieces in Balaka

An angry mob in Balaka have killed a 29 year-old man on suspicion of allegedly stealing soya pieces, flour, and a Bluetooth speaker.

Balaka Police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha has the death and identified the deceased as Rodrick Jackson.

According to M’bumpha, the incident occurred last Wednesday in Chibwana Village under Traditional Authority Nsamala in the district.

Reports indicate that the deceased was caught allegedly stealing from a house in the area, unfortunately, he was severely beaten by community members.

After realizing he had died from the assault, the mob reportedly dumped his body near his wife’s home.

M’bumpha says police are currently hunting for those involved in the mob justice to ensure they face the law.
