The Malawi National Football Team, the Flames, are on the verge of an early exit from the 2025 Hollywoodbets COSAFA Cup following a goalless draw against Namibia at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa, Yesterday on Sunday 8 June 2025.

The result leaves the Flames at the bottom of Group B with just one point from two matches — trailing group leaders Angola, who thrashed Lesotho 4-0 in their latest fixture, by three points.

Even a victory over Angola in their final group match is unlikely to see Malawi through to the semi-finals. Lesotho, who defeated Malawi 1-0 in their opening match on Thursday, can eliminate the Flames based on head-to-head results if they manage a draw against Namibia on Tuesday.

As things stand, Angola, Lesotho, and Namibia all remain in contention for a semi-final slot. Namibia will secure qualification with a win over Lesotho, while only group winners will proceed to the tournament’s last four.
