An Indian bride, Sonam Raghuvanshi, 25, is under investigation for allegedly planning the murder of her husband during their honeymoon.
Her husband, Raja, 30, was found dead on June 2 in a forested gorge in Meghalaya, with signs of a violent attack, including a slit throat.
Reports suggest that Sonam hired four men to carry out the murder, which occurred just weeks after their arranged marriage on May 11 in Indore.
The couple went missing four days into their honeymoon, prompting a search by police, local residents, and disaster response teams. Raja’s family initially criticized law enforcement for not doing enough to find the couple or solve the case.
Sonam surrendered to police on June 9, after reportedly contacting her brother from a restaurant. Authorities have since arrested three of the four alleged accomplices, with one still at large.
While Sonam’s father believes she is innocent and may have been abducted, police evidence points to her involvement. Raja’s brother has accepted the investigation findings and retracted earlier doubts about the case.
Local officials have emphasized the importance of avoiding misinformation and praised the police for solving the case swiftly.
