President Chakwera Appoints Three New MEC Commissioners

President Lazarus Chakwera has appointed three new commissioners to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), with the appointments effective from 11 June 2025.
The newly appointed commissioners are Mr. Richard Chapweteka, Dr. Emmanuel Fabiano, and Mrs. Caroline Mfune.
A statement released on 12 June 2025 and signed by the Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Colleen Zamba, confirmed that the appointments were made following nominations by the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
The appointments were carried out in accordance with Section 75 of the Constitution and the provisions of the Malawi Electoral Commission Act.
