Five Injured in Mazabuka Truck Accident

Five people were rushed to Mazabuka General Hospital on Monday evening following a road traffic accident involving a heavy-duty truck near the Zambia Sugar traffic lights along Kaonga Bypass Road.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck veered off the road while attempting to negotiate a corner at high speed. The vehicle overturned and narrowly missed crashing into a nearby church.
it is reporteed that a team of Fire Brigade officers, Zambia Police, Zambia Sugar officials, and members of the public arushed to the scene, working to free passengers trapped in the wreckage.
Concerns over the safety of the Kaonga Bypass Road have been raised in the past. Earlier this year, Kaonga Ward Councillor Clifford Joleya described the stretch between Dennis Block Factory and Zambia Sugar Junction as a “death trap” due to its steep gradient and sharp corners.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the accident.
