Auction Holding Limited (AHL) Group Plc and its branch, AHL Tobacco Sales Limited, have strongly condemned United Transformation Movement (UTM) President Dr. Dalitso Kabambe and his team for breaking into Chinkhoma Auction Floors in Kasungu on 17 June 2025.
According to a press release from AHL, Dr. Kabambe and UTM supporters forced their way into the tobacco market without permission from the Tobacco Commission.
The statement says Dr. Kabambe’s security team manhandled AHL’s guards and caused injuries to one security officer during the incident. Earlier in the day, a UTM advance team went to the auction floors and said their president wanted to tour the place.
However, they were informed that only tobacco farmers with access cards are allowed inside on sale days, and a clearance from the Tobacco Commission was needed. Despite this advice, Dr. Kabambe and his security detail forced their way in.
AHL said no staff took them on a tour and that the action was done without any proper process.
AHL has expressed disappointment and described the incident as violent and unlawful. They said leaders like Dr. Kabambe should respect market rules and act as good examples.
They also added that such behavior is not expected from someone who wants to become the country’s president.
