85-Year-Old Woman Found Murdered Outside Her Home in Nsanje

Unknown assailants have allegedly murdered an elderly woman, Alucia Lauzhi, 85, of Bazhu Village in the Mbenje Chiefdom, Nsanje District, by stabbing her and slitting her throat.
The woman’s brother, Richard Monja, told us that his sister was found dead outside her house, and they believe the attack occurred around 10 p.m. The assailants are also believed to have stolen some of her clothes.
“We don’t know who the people are or the reasons behind their actions. I live in Beka Village, while they lived in Bazhu Village with their seven-year-old grandson,” Monja said.
He added that his sister lived next door to their brother, who is deaf and mute.
Monja has called on the police to do everything possible to identify the perpetrators and ensure that justice is served, saying the incident has caused great fear in the community.
Police in the district have not yet commented on the matter.
