Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) President Enock Chihana has vowed never to repeat the mistake of joining a political alliance that does not put Malawians first, citing his regret over being misled into joining the Tonse Alliance during the 2020 presidential elections.
Speaking at a political rally at Mgona Ground in Lilongwe, AFORD President said his party is now more careful and will only work with parties that share its values and ideologies.
Chihana stressed that the party is ready to go into a political alliance ahead of the September elections but only with parties that genuinely care about the welfare of the people.
He added that if no party matches AFORD’s beliefs, he is confident the party can go to the polls alone and still win.
Chihana also revealed that discussions with potential alliance partners are still ongoing and that in two weeks, the party will publicly announce its final decision.
He emphasized that AFORD is fully prepared for the elections and will focus on issue-based campaigning instead of exchanging insults with other parties.
