A group of over 200 teachers who were assigned to administer the Standard 8 and Form 2 examinations have complained that they have not received their payments.
According to one of the teachers, who asked to remain anonymous, they have tried to engage with the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB), but without success. He said that when the issue was raised with the board, they were told the delay was due to incorrect account details—an explanation he described as false.
The teacher added that they were supposed to receive the money before the start of their work to help cover food and transport expenses during the examination period.
However, MANEB spokesperson Angella Kashitigu stated that she had not received any formal complaints. She added that if there is a delay, it is likely due to teachers submitting incorrect bank account information.
She advised the affected teachers to contact the education department to have the issue resolved.
The group is reportedly planning to file a formal complaint with the relevant authorities to seek assistance.
