Police Warns People About Drinking Alcohol On Empty Stomach After Two Deaths in Ntcheu

Police in Ntcheu are advising people in the area to avoid drinking alcohol on an empty stomach following the death of two men who drank without eating any food.
According to Ntcheu Police spokesperson Jacob Khembo, a 73-year-old man identified as Lyson William from Chagoma Village, under Traditional Authority Phambala, died after drinking alcohol without eating.
Khembo said the man was found dead on 23 June by his relative in his house where he was living alone after separation with his wife, when the case was reported to the nearest police station the deceased was taken to Senzani clinic where it was confirmed that he died due to excessive drinking without eating.
He added that this is not the first case in the area just last week, another man, Beyard Kelvin, aged 33, from the area of Traditional Authority Njolomole, also died in the same way.
Police are now urging people to be careful and eat food before consuming alcohol to avoid such deaths.
