Police in Chikwawa District have arrested two men in connection with the theft of water meters belonging to the Southern Region Water Board (SRWB), valued at over K1.7 million.
Deputy Spokesperson for Chikwawa Police, Chancy Mfune, has confirmed the arrest and identified the two as Flyton Ganizani, 19, and Mphatso Seleman, 18.
Mfune said the two were apprehended following an intensive investigation launched after police received a report about the missing equipment.
“So far, police have managed to recover a total of eight stolen water meters, and the suspects are expected to appear in court soon to answer theft-related charges,” Mfune added.
Authorities say efforts to recover the remaining stolen items and apprehend any additional suspects are ongoing.
