USA – A veteran skydiver has died following a tragic midair collision in Georgia. Jasmine Black, 48, was killed on Saturday, June 21, after jumping from a Skydive-Atlanta plane at the Thomaston Upson County Airport.

According to Upson County Sheriff Dan Kilgore, Black’s parachute collided with another jumper’s canopy just before landing. With over 160 jumps of experience, she attempted to cut away her main chute and deploy her reserve.

However, due to the low altitude, the backup parachute did not fully open in time. Responding officers found Black dead on the tarmac around 4:30 p.m.

The Federal Aviation Administration is assisting in the investigation. Her death marks the second fatal incident at Skydive-Atlanta in five years. In 2020, a tandem jump ended fatally for both an 18-year-old student and a 35-year-old instructor.
