Mzimba Police Arrest Man Over Defilement and Murd3r of 17-Year-Old Gir

Police in Mzimba have arrested Richard Misomali in connection with the defilement and murder of 17-year-old Leticia Msowoya. The incident occurred on June 13, 2025, in the Eswazini area.
Mzimba Police spokesperson Mariah Banda confirmed the arrest and said that Misomali, was taken into custody on suspicion of sexually assaulting and brutally murdering the girl. Leticia was from Msowoya Village under Traditional Authority Chindi in Mzimba.
Misomali appeared in court today, where he is facing multiple charges, including defilement under Section 138 and murder under Section 209 of the Penal Code.
The Executive Director of the Mzimba Youth Organisation, Reverend Moses Nkhana, has commended the police for their action.
He is currently being held at Mzimba Prison as the murder case is being committed to the High Court.
