NEEF Rejects Claims About Giving K5 Billion To Pastors

The National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) has dismissed a fake press release that claims the fund of K5 billion to pastors which is circulating online, saying the money was given under a program called ‘Community Empowerment’.
NEEF said the report is completely false and that no such program exists, the organization made it clear that it has not received any money for this so called initiative and has never given any loans under that name to pastors, groups or individuals.
In the official statement released on 26 June, NEEF explained that the false information meant to mislead people and damage its reputation. The fund said it believes in transparency, fairness and giving equal opportunities to all Malawian including youths, women, people with disabilities and faith based leaders without bias.
Meanwhile, NEEF has asked the public to ignore the false document and only trust information from its official channels, it also warned anyone found spreading misinformation about the fund may face legal action.
