Burial for Nsanje’s Chief Education Officer Set for Wednesday

The late Mac Shades Dakamau, who served as Chief Education Officer for Nsanje, will be laid to rest on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in his home district of Nsanje.

Dakamau reportedly collapsed while attending a church service on Sunday. He was rushed to Nsanje District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

His sudden passing has sent shockwaves through the education sector and the wider Nsanje community. Tributes have begun pouring in from colleagues, officials, and residents who admired his dedication to improving education in the district.

The Nsanje District Council, in a statement posted on its official Facebook page, described Dakamau’s death as tragic and unexpected.

“Council Chairperson Cassim Ngwali, ward councillors, Members of Parliament, traditional leaders, the District Commissioner, and all council officials are deeply shocked by Mr. Dakamau’s sudden death,” the statement reads.

Funeral arrangements are underway, with the community preparing to bid farewell to a committed public servant and educator.
