Five-Year-Old Boy Dies After Being Hit by Vehicle in Rumphi

A tragic road accident in Bolero, Rumphi District, has claimed the life of a five-year-old boy identified as Asante Kalagho.
According to Rumphi Police Spokesperson, Sub Inspector Noel Kamchenga, the incident occurred on Sunday near the Bolero Police Unit along the Chikwawa–Bembe Road. The child was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by a Toyota Sienta saloon vehicle that was traveling toward Bembe.
Asante sustained severe head injuries as a result of the impact. He was rushed to Bolero Health Center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police say the child was from Shaba Village, located in the area of Traditional Authority Mwaulambia in Chitipa District.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. Meanwhile, police are urging motorists and parents alike to exercise extra caution on the roads, especially in areas frequented by children.
