Garden Boy Arrested For Stealing K12m From His Boss in Lilongwe

Police in Lilongwe have arrested a 34-year-old Gift Kachama, for allegedly stealing K12 million cash belonging to his boss at Area 9 on June 18, 2025.
Deputy spokesperson for Lilongwe police, Sergeant Khumbo Sanyiwa, has confirmed the arrest and said that on stated date during morning time, the suspect was assigned by his boss to wash a car, and in the process he found the money and stole it.
After stealing the money, he left for church where the police arrested him after his boss reported the matter.
He denied taking the money at first, claiming it was his cousin who was responsible.
But he later changed and revealed to have stolen it, and led police into a maize garden where he kept the cash.
However, police found only K2.5 million that was hidden in a plastic bag.
Investigations are still under way to establish more information on the said missing cash for further recovery.
The suspect will appear in court soon to answer a case of theft.
