Silver Strikers Confirm Chimwemwe Idana’s Departure to Zanaco FC

Malawian midfielder Chimwemwe Idana has completed a move to Zambian top-flight side Zanaco FC, signing a two-year contract with the Lusaka-based club.

Silver Strikers, the defending TNM Super League champions, officially confirmed Idana’s departure on their Facebook page on Friday afternoon.

In a statement, Silver described Idana as a player who left an unforgettable mark at the club both on and off the pitch.

“The jersey number 44 came to Area 47, he conquered, and left an indelible mark in the hearts of many. The Silver Strikers Board, Management, Staff, and Fans wish Idana all the best in his future endeavors,” reads part of the club’s statement.

The midfielder, who first joined Silver Strikers on loan from Tanzania’s Mbeya FC, went on to spend three years at the Capital City giants. During that period, he played a key role in helping Silver Strikers secure the 2024 TNM Super League title their first league championship in 11 years.

Silver Strikers Chief Executive Officer Patrick Chimimba confirmed the transfer but declined to disclose the transfer fee involved in the deal.

At Zanaco FC, Idana will reunite with fellow Malawians striker Chawanangwa Kaonga and winger Robert Saizi who are already on the club’s books.

Idana’s move marks another big step in his football journey, as he now looks forward to testing his skills in the Zambian Super League with one of the country’s most competitive sides.
