
Chimwala promises continued development support for Machinjiri, handover borehole

Independent Member of Parliament for South Lunzu Constituency Alex Chimwala has promised to continue with development projects with or without being voted into Parliament come September 16, 2025.
Chimwala said this during the official handover ceremony of a borehole drilled in the area of Village Headman Mantchombe in Machinjiri.
“Even if you don’t vote for me come September 16, 2025, I will still continue with my development projects meant to help the people of Machinjiri. Machinjiri is my home,” said Chimwala while attracting ululations from the crowd.
Turning to the borehole, Chimwala urged the community to take good care of the borehole.
“Everyone should take full responsibility of this borehole, form a committee which will be looking after this borehole and if possible introduce a user fees which will be used to maintain it,” said Chimwala.
Chimwala went further to promise the people of Machinjiri a main market and a Secondary School once voted into Parliament come September 16.
Village Headman Mambwene and Village Headman Manjombe jointly hailed Chimwala for putting the well-fare of the people from Machinjiri at heart.
The two chiefs then promised Chimwala to take good care of the borehole.
Chimwala has so far constructed bridges, toilets, renovated houses of the elderly, sponsored football and netball in the area.
He has also provided soft loans to women, youths and the elderly.
