Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been found guilty on two of five charges in his federal racketeering and sex trafficking trial. The jury acquitted him on the racketeering conspiracy charge and sex trafficking involving Cassie Ventura.
He was, however, found guilty of transporting both Cassie Ventura and another woman, identified only as “Jane,” across state lines for prostitution. Combs was also acquitted of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion related to both alleged victims.
Each conviction carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. The trial lasted six weeks and included testimony from 34 prosecution witnesses, while Combs’ defense presented none.
Among those who testified were Ventura, two women identified as “Mia” and “Jane,” and two male escorts. Surveillance footage showing Combs assaulting Ventura in a 2016 hotel incident was shown to the jury.
Rapper Kid Cudi also testified, claiming Combs had his car set on fire after learning of his relationship with Ventura. Prosecutors alleged Combs used his businesses as a front for a criminal enterprise involving coercion, trafficking, and bribery.
Judge Arun Subramanian will decide later today whether Combs will remain in custody.
Prosecutors said they plan to seek a “significant” prison sentence.
