Ekhaya FC goalkeeper Elias Misi has been called up to the Malawi national team to replace Silver Strikers’ shot-stopper George Chikooka, who sustained an injury during a midweek match against Creck.

The Flames are set to face Botswana in an international friendly on Sunday, July 6, as part of Malawi’s 61st Independence Day celebrations. The match will take place at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Flames Head Coach Kalisto Pasuwa has named a 25-man squad for the fixture, with Misi joining the camp as the new addition following Chikooka’s injury.

The friendly is expected to draw a large crowd as the nation celebrates over six decades of independence with football at the heart of the festivities.
