ENGLAND – A 49-year-old mechanic, Karl Farrar from Hyndburn, Lancashire, sustained serious injuries in a workplace accident involving a BMW estate vehicle. The incident occurred when Farrar exited the vehicle after applying the handbrake, but the car unexpectedly began to roll backward down a ramp.

Surveillance footage shows Farrar attempting to stop the moving vehicle manually before being forcefully pinned against a wall. After calling for help, a staff member entered the vehicle but mistakenly put it in reverse, causing it to strike Farrar a second time. He was eventually freed, but collapsed on the workshop floor due to the extent of his injuries.

Farrar suffered significant soft tissue and nerve damage in the pelvic region and has since expressed uncertainty about the long-term functionality of the affected area. He was also temporarily unable to move his right leg, raising early concerns about possible amputation, though that outcome was ultimately avoided.

Medical professionals later attributed the accident to a fault in the vehicle’s handbrake system. Farrar, who has a background in motorsport, described the experience as deeply traumatic and has chosen not to view the incident on CCTV.
