Phwedo’s Case Adjourned Again Over Missing Exam ID of Alleged Victim

The trial of actor Tumpe Mtaya, also known as Phwedo, has been adjourned to next Tuesday after the prosecution failed to produce the Form Four exam ID of the alleged victim.
The ID is considered key in verifying the girl’s age in a case involving child trafficking and sexual abuse. The prosecution was first asked to submit the document on June 12 but has not done so.
Although there was no formal court session today, lawyers from both sides met to review the availability of documents. Mtaya’s lawyer, Khwima Mchizi, said the prosecution had again failed to provide the required evidence.
The judge has now ordered the investigating officer to appear in court with the ID and explain the continued delay.
More details to come…
