The Public Affairs Committee (PAC) says it is dismayed by delays from the Malawi Police Service in releasing a report on arrests linked to recent violent demonstrations in Lilongwe.
PAC Publicity Secretary, Bishop Gilford Matonga, says Malawians saw images and videos of suspects, making the police silence puzzling.
He has urged President Lazarus Chakwera to publicly explain what actions have been taken.
The Human Rights Consultative Committee (HRCC) has also expressed concern over the lack of communication.
HRCC Chairperson Robert Nkwezalamba says the silence is damaging public trust in the police.
Fifteen days after the incident, police have yet to confirm if any arrests were made.
Efforts to get a response from the police have been unsuccessful.
