Two prophets affiliated with Vision of God Ministries in Kasungu, Malawi, have been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing four girls aged between 13 and 15, allegedly under the pretense of providing spiritual guidance.

According to Kasungu Police spokesperson Joseph Kachikho, the suspects—identified as Mangitsani Banda, aged 46, and Joshua Phiri, aged 23—are accused of luring the minors to their ministry in the Kaning’a area between June and July 2025. The girls reportedly sought spiritual support and prayers for various personal problems.

Instead of offering help, police allege that the pastors took the girls into their home, where they engaged in sexual activities with them under the guise of religious care and prayer.

The incident came to light after the mother of one of the victims reported her child missing to Nkhamenya Police. Investigators traced the girl and discovered her along with three others at the pastors’ residence.

Medical examinations conducted at Kaluluma Junior Hospital confirmed that the girls had been sexually assaulted.

Police further reported that Banda hails from Mtanga Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Khongoni in Lilongwe, while Phiri is from Mbwizi Village, T/A Kafuzira in Nkhotakota.
