Frank Kayuni Dies After Shooting Himself with Own Gun in Nyambadwe

A 62-year-old man, Frank Kayuni, has died after reportedly shooting himself in the chest with his own firearm at his home in Nyambadwe, Blantyre, on the morning of Tuesday, 15 July 2025.
According to Chibisa Mulimbika, Public Relations Officer for Ndirande Police, the deceased’s wife heard a loud cry coming from the bedroom. Upon checking, she found Mr. Kayuni lying unconscious.
He was immediately rushed to Mwaiwathu Private Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his death.
A postmortem conducted at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital revealed that Kayuni died from a fresh gunshot wound to the chest.
Police recovered a shotgun from the scene, which was legally registered in Mr. Kayuni’s name.
Mulimbika confirmed that investigations are currently underway to establish the motive behind the incident.
The late Frank Kayuni hailed from Chizali Village, under Traditional Authority Mwaulambia in Chitipa District.
