Police arrest man over sexual intercourse with girl child in Nkhata Bay

Police is Nkhata Bay have arrested Lackson Billy, 39, for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a fifteen year old epileptic girl.
This occurred on July 13, 2025 at about 0700 hours at Koka Family Rest House at Mpamba area in the district.
The suspect was lodging at the rest house when the incident happened.
On this date, the girl went to the rest house where she usually does some piece work by drawing water.
Later, the suspect grabbed and locked her in his room. He forcibly had unprotected sexual intercourse with the survivor.
He gave her eight hundred kwacha so that she should not reveal the unscrupulous act.
However, she later reported the matter to her mother who referred the incident to police.
The survivor was given a referral letter for medical examination and treatment at the Nkhata Bay District Hospital.
Police instituted intensive investigations which led to the arrest of the suspect at the Jetty as he was about to flee to Mozambique using water transport (Ilala).
The suspect is currently waiting to appear before court when paperwork is completed to answer the charge of having sexual intercourse with a girl child.
Billy hails from Duguda village traditional authority Mabuka in Mulanje District.
