The case involving United Transformation Movement (UTM) Political Advisor, Patricia Kaliati, has resumed before Chief Resident Magistrate Rodrick Michongwe at the Magistrate’s Court in Lilongwe.

Kaliati is facing allegations of conspiracy to murder President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, with the alleged plot said to have occurred between March and June 2024.

The State, led by prosecutor Levison Mangani, is currently presenting its third witness in the matter — Angella Mwale, a businesswoman based in Lilongwe.

Mwale told the court that a man named Joseph Odala approached her, claiming that Kaliati was looking for someone to help “resolve problems” within their party, UTM.

The nature of the “problems” was not clearly stated in court, but the testimony forms part of the prosecution’s attempt to link Kaliati to the alleged conspiracy.

The case continues, with more witnesses expected to testify in the coming sessions.
