
Four Arrested in Connection to Multiple Crimes in Mzuzu

Police in Mzuzu have arrested four men in connection with various criminal activities that have occurred across the city in recent weeks.
Mzuzu Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Sub-Inspector Cecelia Mfune, confirmed the arrest of Omega Msinde (18), Zephani Phiri (34), Noel Chitaya (23), and Adam Chisi (34) during a police operation conducted on Tuesday in different townships within the city.
According to Mfune, the first suspect, Msinde, was found in possession of a Samsung mobile phone suspected to have been stolen in July. The second suspect, Phiri, is alleged to have broken into St. Peter’s Catholic Church, from where a sound mixer, speaker, and solar battery were stolen all of which have since been recovered.
The third suspect, Chitaya, is linked to several robbery incidents, and police recovered an unregistered Kinglion motorcycle from him. Meanwhile, the fourth suspect, Chisi, is alleged to have stolen a Sienta vehicle engine head while working at PVHO; the item has also been recovered.
Police have since revealed the suspects’ places of origin: Msinde is from Traditional Authority Njolomole in Ntcheu, Phiri and Chitaya are from Traditional Authority Mpherembe in Mzimba, and Chisi hails from Traditional Authority Chisikwa in Kasungu.
Police investigations are ongoing.
