Police Hunt Suspect in Murder of Kabaza Operator in Ntchisi

Police in Ntchisi are searching for a suspect in connection with the murder of Nthawanji Kamphanga, a 38-year-old kabaza operator who went missing on July 15, 2025.
He was last seen after being hired by a man identified as Brino Kathumba to travel to Masanya Village.
On July 17, Kamphanga’s body was discovered along the Mpompha River. His motorcycle and cellphone were missing. Police officers found a string tied around his neck and signs of head injuries. A postmortem confirmed that he died from strangulation.
Ntchisi Police Public Relations Officer, Salomy Zgambo, said investigations are ongoing and urged the public to assist with any information.
