Sex Workers Arrested After Friend Found Dead in Nkhotakota

Police in Nkhotakota District have arrested two women suspected to be sex workers in connection with the death of their friend, who was found dead in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Nkhotakota Police spokesperson Paul Malimwe confirmed the arrests of Margret Banda, 23, and Anita Jabili, 34.
According to police, preliminary medical reports indicate signs suggesting the woman may have been murdered.
Chairperson of the sex workers in Nkhotakota District, Mary Chiyimba, said the deceased had spent the night with a male client, who fled the scene in the early hours of the morning.
The identity and place of origin of the deceased remain unknown. She was laid to rest two days ago at Jabu Cemetery in the Malengachazi area of the district.
