Zambian Church Elder Nabbed For Defilement and Impregnating 15 Year-old Girl

Police in Kapiri Mposhi district in Zambia, have apprehended a 56-year-old man for defiling and impregnating a 15-year-old girl.
Central Province Police Deputy Commanding Officer, Lemekani Chirwa, said the suspect, who is a church elder at named church, is reported to have taken advantage of the financial assistance he had been rendering to the victim’s family.
Mr Chirwa told ZANIS in an interview that the alleged sexual offence was reported on July 14, 2025, at 10 hours and the incident occurred on an unknown date in March 2025, around 15 hours, at a market in Kapiri-Mposhi district.
He explained that the report was made by the juvenile’s 60-year-old mother of Kapiri Mposhi adding that the victim is currently five months pregnant.
Mr Chirwa said the victim’s mother left the house for business in Kaputa in March 2025, and only returned on July 5, 2025.
Upon returning from a business trip, the mother of the victim noticed changes in her daughter’s physical appearance.
“On questioning her, the girl revealed that she was impregnated by the church elder,” said Mr Chirwa.
The matter was then reported to Kapiri-Mposhi police station, and a medical report form was issued.
The medical findings confirmed that the girl is five months pregnant and an arrest has since been made adding that the perpetrator of the offence will appear in court soon.
