MEC Appoints Mayamiko Nkoloma as New Commissioner

The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has appointed Mayamiko Nkoloma, a renowned technologist and academic, as its newest commissioner.
Nkoloma brings a wealth of experience in telecommunications, innovation, and development to the role.
Nkoloma leads an emerging technology company specializing in Internet of Things (IoT) applications and software solutions for healthcare, water management, and infrastructure monitoring.
He holds a PhD in innovation and development, an MSc in wireless communication from the University of Sheffield, and a Master’s degree in advanced information technology from the International Institute of Information Technology (IIT) in Pune, India.
Nkoloma current teaches telecommunications at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS).
He has received numerous local and international awards for his innovative solutions, which have been implemented in Malawi and adopted by major corporations globally.
Nkoloma’s appointment is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the MEC, leveraging his expertise in technology to enhance electoral processes.
His experience in developing innovative solutions could lead to improved efficiency and transparency in the commission’s operations.
As a champion of the Malawi 2063 development vision in economic infrastructure, Nkoloma’s appointment aligns with the country’s long-term development goals.
