One Dead, Six Injured in Mchinji Minibus Accident

A 42-year-old passenger, Zakeyu Brown, has died while six others sustained injuries following a road accident that occurred along the M12 Road in Mchinji District.
Confirming the incident, Mchinji District Police spokesperson Limbani Mpinganjira said the accident involved a minibus driven by 67-year-old Lenard Chinunda, which was traveling from Lilongwe to Mchinji.
“While approaching Kalimang’ombe Village, the driver lost control of the vehicle and swerved off the road, causing the minibus to land on its left side,” explained Mpinganjira.
Zakeyu Brown was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mchinji District Hospital, while the six injured passengers were immediately taken in for medical attention. Meanwhile, the driver and his conductor escaped the crash unhurt.
Police say investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
