Man Commits Suicide By Hanging In Ntchisi

A 70-year-old man, identified as James Phiri, tragically died by suicide after hanging himself from a tree in Ntchisi District.

According to Ntchisi Police spokesperson Salome Zgambo, Mr. Phiri’s wife, Mary Phiri, had left their home at night to attend a choir practice. Upon returning, she discovered that her husband was not at home and assumed he had gone to one of his usual places.

After waiting for his return with no success, she began searching for him. Sadly, she found his body hanging from a tree in the nearby area.

The incident was reported to local authorities, and both police officers and medical personnel responded promptly.

Upon examination, it was determined that Mr. Phiri had died from asphyxiation and physical weakness.
