Police in Chikwawa have arrested 52-year-old Erick Peterson for allegedly being found in possession of a cattle carcass weighing approximately 190 kilograms, suspected to have been stolen.

According to Chikwawa Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Constable Chancy Mfune, the arrest followed a tip-off from a concerned well-wisher who reported the suspicious meat being kept at the suspect’s home.

Acting on the tip, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) conducted a raid at Peterson’s house around 2:00 AM. He was arrested on the spot, while two other suspects managed to flee the scene.

Constable Mfune stated that efforts are underway to trace the rightful owner of the meat and to apprehend the remaining suspects.

Peterson comes from Sadulo Village, under the jurisdiction of Traditional Authority Katunga in Chikwawa District.
