Driver Dies Aft er Truck Overturns In Chikwawa

A 50-year-old lorry driver, Lomawu Masimo, has died after the Toyota Dyna he was driving overturned along the Chikwawa escarpment on Monday evening.
According to Chikwawa Police spokesperson Sergeant Dickson Matemba, the accident occurred at Saidi Village when Masimo lost control of the vehicle due to speeding. The lorry, registration number BT 7144, was traveling from Madziabango towards Thabwa along the M1 road.
“The vehicle swerved off the road and overturned several times. The driver sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Chikwawa District Hospital,” said Matemba.
Masimo hailed from Nkumaniza Village, Traditional Authority Ngabu, in Chikwawa District.
Police have since urged all motorists to observe speed limits, especially when descending the escarpments, to prevent similar tragedies.
