The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has announced that its leader, Peter Mutharika, will begin holding campaign rallies in various regions by the end of this week.
Since the start of the campaign season earlier this month, Mutharika has been noticeably absent from the rallies that other party leaders have been conducting across the country.
According to the party’s spokesperson—and Mutharika’s personal spokesperson—Shadric Namalomba, the former president will commence his rallies in the northern region.
“We will provide you with a list of all the scheduled rallies by the end of Wednesday,” Namalomba said.
Mutharika’s absence from recent political rallies has raised questions, particularly as other senior party figures have continued to engage with supporters on the ground ahead of next month election.
