Nsanje Court Fines Man K120,000 For Illegal Possession Of Fuel

Nsanje Magistrate’s Court has convicted and sentenced 50-year-old Sheha Mpondanguwo to pay a fine of K120,000 or, in default, serve 12 months imprisonment for being found in possession of liquid fuel without a permit.
Delivering his ruling on Tuesday, First Grade Magistrate Watson Mankhanamba said the court was left with no option but to impose the penalty to deter others from engaging in similar illegal practices.
The court also ordered the forfeiture of 25 litres of diesel that was confiscated from the convict to the Malawi Government.
Mpondanguwo hails from Nthukuso Village, Traditional Authority Malemia, in Nsanje District.
