Malawian musician Rashley has pleaded with the public to forgive him, saying the controversial video that went viral in 2021 was fabricated.
Speaking during a Facebook live session yesternight, Rashley explained that the original clip only showed him in a room with a woman while in underwear. However, he claims some people maliciously edited and combined it with pornographic content, making it appear as though he was involved in an explicit act.
“That video was a combination of two different things. I was framed,” Rashley said, stressing that those who carefully watched the clip could tell it was not him.
The singer expressed regret that the incident damaged his reputation and career, and appealed to Malawians to give him another chance.
His remarks come after fellow artist Driemo, in a recent Zambian podcast interview, lamented how Malawians rarely support entertainers once they face scandals. Driemo referenced an unnamed artist whose 2021 scandal continues to affect his music career a comment that Rashley has now connected to his own experience.
