Zambezi Evangelical Church Chairperson (Mitsidi Synod) Reverend Robert Mambeya has described the just ended men’s conference held at Salima Technical College as an eye opener.
The conference which was held under the theme; “Man up: Living a life of purpose (Rom 8 v 28)” was organized with an aim of encouraging men to take a leading role in running the affairs of the church.
During the conference, men were trained on how to manage their finances and the training was facilitated by Financial Education Manager for Old Mutual Malawi Limited, Bernard Chiluzi.

Chiluzi urged men to come up with various means of generating income and not sorely depending on salary.
Men also were trained on the dangers of mental health where they were encouraged to always open up when faced with challenges and not to resort to committing suicide.
Speaking after the conference Mambeya urged men to use the knowledge gathered during the three days to uplift the church affairs.
“We organized this conference with an am of bringing together all men in our church so that we can encourage one another on what is happening in our day today lives in terms of ministry, finances, our families so that we know our position in our church and what we are supposed to do.
“As church we have achieved a lot of things during this conference. The topics we have been trained on were chosen according to the needs of our church and we thought those topics will encourage our men to be on the positions that God want them to be in the church,” said Reverend Mambeya.
Mike Bernard Kalamiya, a congregant from Lilongwe Evangelical Church described the conference as timely.
“We have really benefited from the conference and how i wish the conference could have started way back. Through this conference i have realized that i have a role to play in uplifting the church and not leaving the church to women only,” said Kalamiya.
Over 200 men from across Malawi attended the conference.
The Church was established in 1892 and so far the church has over 200, 000 members across the country.
