Man commits suicide by hanging Nkhata Bay

A young man identified as Precious Chirwa 19, committed suicide by hanging himself in his house on September 5, 2025 at around 1900 hours at Chapumbwa Village in Nkhata Bay.
His sister Daleni Chirwa 25, of the same Village, traditional authority (T/A) Mkumbira in Nkhata Bay district told Police at Nkhata Bay that her brother was found hanging in his house.
It has been established that Chirwa separated with his wife who went back to her home.
On the fateful day in the morning hours, he left his home for Mkondezi Rice Milling where he was doing some piecework for his daily living.
Surprisingly, nobody saw him coming back home. When the reporter went to check on him at his house, she was shocked to find him hanging from the roof of the sitting room.
She called for help to rescue him, but he was unconscious which prompted the rescue team to report the matter to the Police Station.
Police detectives accompanied by a Medical Officer from the District Hospital, visited the scene of the crime.
A postmortem examination revealed that death was due to suffocation secondary to strangulation. No foul play is suspected.
He hailed from Chapumbwa Village TA Mkumbira in the district.
