Chakwera Announces Fertilizer Prices and AIP Rollout Date

President Lazarus Chakwera has announced that the government will begin distributing fertilizers under the Affordable Inputs Program (AIP) on October 1, with smallholder farmers set to buy fertilizer at a subsidized price of K15,000 per 50kg bag.
Addressing the nation yesterday, Dr. Chakwera also revealed that low-cost fertilizers for large-scale farmers and farmer groups have already arrived and will go on sale starting today, priced at K90,000 per 50kg bag.
Chakwera further stated that his administration recognizes the vital role farmers play in boosting the country’s economy.
He acknowledged that while there are individuals who oppose and undermine his government’s initiatives, his focus remains on ensuring that Malawian farmers are empowered and adequately supported.
