Police at Bunda in Lilongwe have arrested two men in connection with the brutal murder of Rodrick Hapion, 40, and the robbery of his motorcycle at Mwadzungu Village on August 1, 2025.
According to Lilongwe Police PRO, Inspector Hastings Chigalu, the suspects have been identified as Bikiton Ndaziona, 41, and Chikondi Banda, 30.
“Investigations reveal that on the said day, Hapion (deceased) went to Bikiton’s house at Nathenje to discuss a groundnuts business he intended to entrust to the suspects, as had been their usual arrangement. Little did he know that the two had conspired to kill him and steal his motorcycle.
“After sharing lunch (mmemo), while Hapion was occupied with his smartphone, the suspects took a large stone that they had prepared in advance and struck him on the head. When he became helpless, they went on to slit his neck with a knife. They stuffed the body into a sack and hid it in Bikiton’s bedroom until nightfall.
“At around midnight, the suspects transported the body on the same motorcycle they had stolen and dumped it under a bridge at a nearby river. Following thorough investigations, Bunda Police detectives arrested both suspects on September 9, 2025, and recovered the stolen motorcycle from Bikiton’s house before it could be sold,” he said
The suspects are currently in custody at Area 3 Police Station in Lilongwe and will be charged with Murder and Robbery.
