Pastor To Spend 14 Years In Jail For Having Sexual Intercourse With 16-Year-Old Girl In Lilongwe

The First Grade Magistrate’s Court in Dowa has sentenced 44-year-old Pastor Maxwell Mulima to 14 years imprisonment after he was found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a 16-year-old girl in Lilongwe, Malawi.
According to Kanengo Police spokesperson Gresham Ngwira, the court was informed that the incident took place in May of this year. Pastor Mulima had invited the girl to his home under the pretense of conducting a special prayer session. It was during this visit that the offense occurred.
When the case was brought before the court, the accused pleaded not guilty. The prosecution proceeded to present evidence, including testimony from the victim, who described the events that transpired.
In delivering the ruling, Magistrate Marvis Sulumba emphasized the seriousness of the offense, noting that such actions represent a breach of trust and a violation of the law.
The court sentenced Pastor Mulima to 14 years in prison, with the judge stating that the punishment is intended not only as a penalty but also as a deterrent to others who may consider committing similar acts.
