Akon’s wife Tomeka Thiam files for divorce after nearly 30 years of marriage

After nearly three decades of marriage, Akon’s wife, Tomeka Thiam, has officially filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.
According to court documents, Tomeka stated that she and the singer were married in September 1996. Now, she is seeking to end the marriage and move forward independently.
The couple shares a 17-year-old child, and Tomeka is requesting joint legal custody while seeking physical custody of the child. She is also asking for spousal support but has requested that the court deny any support claims Akon might make in return.
Over the years, Akon has been vague in public about the number of wives he has, but Tomeka’s legal filing makes her position—and their legal relationship—very clear.
As of now, Akon has not made any public statement regarding the divorce.
