Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba has instructed security agencies, including the Malawi Police Service and the Malawi Defence Force (MDF), to arrest and detain anyone wearing DPP party uniforms if they are involved in violence or causing chaos.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Namalomba warned that some criminals are disguising themselves in DPP attire to create disorder and damage the party’s reputation.
“To the Army and Police — you are the defenders of our Constitution. Arrest anyone wearing DPP T-shirts if they are involved in disruptive or violent behavior,” he said.
He also urged genuine DPP members to stop wearing party uniforms until the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) announces official results.
“Do not wear DPP party uniforms until MEC announces the results. Criminals are trying to bring chaos while pretending to be DPP,” Namalomba stated.
